Frequently asked questions
Short answers about the game on this site. The home page is where you type an address. Controls are on how to play.
Is Destroy Any Website safe?
Destroy Any Website runs in your browser and does not install software. You shoot a local copy of a page, not the live site. The address you type is fetched by this site so the level can be built, so only enter pages you are allowed to request.
Does it change the real website?
No. Holes, fire, and missing letters exist only in the game. Open the real site again and the page is unchanged.
What does this site store?
Coins, the character you picked, and the Challenge or Sandbox choice stay in local storage on this device. There is no account. These pages load Google Analytics so visits can be counted. The address you type is requested in order to draw the level.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. A stick on the left moves you, the right side aims and fires, and grenade, pause, and weapon slots are buttons on the screen. A match you started in landscape asks you to turn the phone sideways if you rotate it. A match you started in portrait can stay portrait.
How does multiplayer work?
Create a room from Play online and share the link. Up to six people can join, and the first to 10 kills wins. Quick match is a 90-second round on a built-in map, scored by kills. The page does not fight back in multiplayer, and quick match turns off the railgun, Too Much, PSR B0531+21, and The Magic Wand.
How is this different from similar games?
This one is a page you open in the browser: type an address, or start from the archive.org demo, and the layout becomes the level. Challenge mode adds minions, a logo mini-boss, and coins that unlock three characters. Page Rage is a browser extension.
What if the page looks wrong or empty?
Some sites are mostly script. When a live copy will not become a level, the game uses a still snapshot instead. archive.org is the demo because it loads as a normal homepage. Another address still works when you type it.
Do the characters cost real money?
No. The stickman and the standard weapons are free. Iron Hand, Digger, and Clown unlock with coins you find in Challenge mode: 200, 400, and 600. Those coins stay on this device. Nothing is charged to a card.
